Weekend overnight critical electricity upgrades in Area South

The City’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department advises residents of critical overhead infrastructure upgrades scheduled for the city’s Area South this weekend. The work will take place overnight, depending on weather conditions. Residents are expected to have electricity supply while the work is being carried out, but are cautioned that unplanned outages may occur depending on the demand.

The work will be carried out overnight on the days below:

• Friday, 22 November 2024 at 22:00 to 06:00

• Saturday, 23 November 2024 at 22:00 to 06:00

• Sunday, 24 November at 22:00 to 04:00

The critical overhead infrastructure supplies electricity to:

• Grassy Park

• Pelican Park

• Muizenberg

• Steenberg

• Sun Valley

• Clovelly

It is important to note that residents are expected to have electricity supply while the work is being carried out. Residents are advised that electricity supply interruptions may occur while the work is being done. Sometimes, tripping can occur, among other things.

Residents are advised to check the City’s official communication channels, including the City’s social media channels, or contact the Call Centre for any updates on the upgrades.

Some news channels could imply that this work could affect electricity supply to all areas in the city. This is not true.
